Somebody please give Kellogs Iron Shakti to the guys who made that Complan ad! The ad says that children who drink it grow twice as much. Complan drinking children grew 6cm, whereas other kids grew only 3cm. Fair enough. But why the hell is the scale measuring the children in feet and the sub-division in centimetres?

No child in the ad points that out. Seems complan-drinking children grow tall, not smart!

How to Protest

In Odd on July 29, 2008 by Gaizabonts

I would usually not pay attention to a news piece like this, attributing it to general Air Rage:

“Scores of Chinese air passengers smashed computers and desks and clashed with police Tuesday after a night stranded at an airport without accommodation, state media said.”: Angry, late, tired passengers make computers crash | Oddly Enough | Reuters

But when this happens:

There have also been cases in which passengers, after delayed arrivals, have refused to get off the planes in protest.

I think it’s really cool!

A consultant psychiatrist at the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS), Khandelwal records fascinating vignettes of daily life at himalayanadventurer.blogspot.com. He writes about the effects of static electricity that result in ‘powerful’ handshakes, eccentric food habits, hikes on the ice shelf and the saga of a Skua bird family nesting near the station.

Indian blogs live from Antarctica for the first time- Hindustan Times

Why is it so difficult to have that blogspot URL as a link in the article? This was a web-based article. And all that is web-based is better when it is hypertext. Go digital, but continue thinking paper. Classic , innit?

It is not too difficult. Here, see how you create a link to a blog: http://himalayanadventurer.blogspot.com

No Shakes

In today’s news:

But the actor did not interact with the media or shake hands with any of the policemen.

Thank God for that, that would have been worse than the crimes he was convicted for. Absolutely non-bailable stuff. Lucky Sanjay – saved himself from going back again.

Simple, Ban Television!

In News, Odd on October 31, 2007 by Gaizabonts

“There is a significant association between hours of television watched and both the severity of obesity and the presence of hypertension in obese children,” Dr Jeffrey Schwimmer of the University of California, San Diego and colleagues wrote in the American Journal of Preventive Medicine.

Perhaps it has got to to do with all the obesity news? Sorry. I can’t write any further. Have to get off the floor and stop laughing!

It wasn’t the monkeys, and even you know that.

When you say, Monkeys Kill Delhi Deputy Mayor, you don’t really mean it, do you? Obviously the guy fell down from a terrace and died.

SS Bajwa suffered serious head injuries when he fell from the first-floor terrace of his home on Saturday morning trying to fight off the monkeys.

Delhi Deputy Mayor dies due to fall, while (or should that be ‘after’) fighting monkeys, is a much better headline. But then, who has the space, who has the space…

Imagine, for RSS readers worldwide, you might actually imagine that the Dep. Mayor of the Capital of the seventh largest country fights monkeys.

Ah…well.

Sort out Vienna

In Odd on October 16, 2007 by Gaizabonts

The only problem (apart from tons of features that I would like) in Vienna is that there is no way to sort the feeds in a folder. No, I don’t want to locate feeds in the order that I added them I want to locate them in an alphabetical order!

So, is it possible to sort it?

Not at the moment. I made the conscious decision not to support this when we added manual supporting. This won’t change in 2.2.

Er…ok.
